The Madhya Pradesh Forest Department seized one tiger skin and one leopard skin on the night of 23 August 2006. Four people were arrested.
Mr. Hafizulla Khan, the Range Officer of Piplod, in Burnhanpur division, headed the raid. From the condition of the skins, it appears that the animals were killed within the last five months.
Following leads generated during the interrogation of the suspects, the Maharashtra Forest Department has also been contacted for follow-up action. WPSI is assisting in the investigations.
